Chennai: Dhoni’s squad has completly swept off RCB by seven wickets in the 12th season of IPL at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Saturday. By winning the toss CSK had chose to bowl first on their home ground. RCB gave a very small target for the CSK to fulfill.
RCB was 70-all out in 17.1 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli made 6runs with 12balls. CSK won by 7 wickets and there were 14 balls still remaining. CSK lost opener Shane Watson early but the match was controlled by Ambati Rayudu (28 of 42 runs) and Suresh Raina (19 of 21 balls) put 32 runs for the second wicket to consolidated their team position. Kedar Jadhav was unbeaten on 13 and Ravindra Jadeja not out on six as CSK chased down the small target .Harbhajan Singh was the Man of the match.
It was a great day for CSK players; Suresh Raina became the first ever cricketer to score 5,000 runs in IPL history. He achieved the feat after scoring 15 runs in the match. Harbajan Singh destroyed RCB’s batting with 3-20, by taking wickets of Virat Kohili, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali. Even Imran Tahir was today heavy on RCB, took 3 wickets for 9 runs, he took the wickets of Shivam Dube, Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Opener Parthiv Patel top-scored for RCB with 29 runs. For RCB it was their joint-second lowest total in the Indian Premier League with 10 of their 11 players scoring in single-digits. It’s is high time for RCB now, they need to pull up their socks.
