The Statue Of Unity Is Not Built To Offend Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru: PM Narendra Modi

Amreli | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that Sardar Valla Bhai Patel’s statue in Gujarat is not built to disrespect the first Prime Minister of India; Jawaharlal Nehru. PM Narendra Modi’s speech in Amreli was mostly in Gujrati language.

Modi was in Amreli to attend an election rally here. PM Modi said like this because previously Congress and the RSS had said the statue was made for winning the elections. They had said the entire exercise was a mere election gimmick and treason. Replying to the comments of the opposition especially Congress, Modi said the Congress party says that Patel was their leader, but it is very strange that no leader of the party has yet visited the statue since its inauguration.

PM Modi asked the crowd of Gujarat that don’t they feel proud when they search in Google which is the tallest building and where is it located by seeing the name of Gujarat. He said, “I have not built Sardar Patel’s statue to belittle Pandit Nehru. Patel’s stature is so tall that you don’t have to try too hard to make others look small.”

The ‘Statue of Unity’, dedicated to Sardar Patel, was inaugurated by Modi on 31 October 2018 at Sadhu Bet Island on Narmada River. The 182-metre tall statue, which is the World’s tallest, was built at a cost of Rs 2,389 crore. Sardar Patel was the first deputy Prime Minister of India. He was an Indian barrister and statesman. He is a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and founding father of the Republic of India who actively played an important role in the country’s struggle for Independence.

Modi said the learnings from Gujarat have helped him a lot to take important decisions in the centre. The example he gave to prove this was the Doklam standoff with China in 2017. It was a standoff over Chinese construction of road in Doklam which belongs to both China and India’s ally Bhutan. After few days because of the continuous effort by Indian troops, the Chinese Army backed out. Modi gave a token of thanks to the people of Gujarat for the love and support.

Modi also spoke about various bomb blasts which have occurred in our country in the past. Giving the instance of Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kashi and Jammu he tried to prove that all the bomb blasts occurred during the Congress time but have the people of the country seen any blasts in the last five years he asked the crowd. Are the people not feeling more safe now? He said, “In the last five years no bomb blast took place in any other part of the country. We managed to contain terrorism to just two and a half districts in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Modi blamed the Congress policies for the current situation of Jammu And Kashmir.  Regarding Balakot air strike and Surgical Strike he said that Pakistan is crying now, there PM is urging Modi in public plea to pick up his call. He said like this because Pakistan’s PM after Balakot air strike had said trying to approach India.

PM Modi criticized the Congress party’s promise to review the Armed Forces act, remove the sedition law and reduce security forces in Kashmir. He said, “In their manifesto, Congress has promised that they will withdraw forces from Kashmir. Imagine what will happen then. Don’t you think terrorists would kill Amarnath pilgrims without the presence of Army? What will happen to Vaishnodevi pilgrims or tourists going to Srinagar?”

Gujarat will be going for the third phase of election for the Lok Sabha polls on April 23rd for all the 26 parliamentary seats. Earlier in 2014 Lok Sabha elections the BJP had won all the seats. Let’s see what happens this time.
