NEW DELHI | Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken revealed the secret of 4-3 formula offered by Congress to AAP in Delhi on Monday, April 15. Calculation is based on the space gained by Congress and AAP in the 2017 municipal elections. He responded after the hours, when Rahul charged Arvind Kejriwal with an offence of taking ‘U’ turn.
According to Maken’s chart, AAP won 49 seats after scoring 26% share and Congress 31 after gaining 21% vote share. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, combining both the party’s shares, the vote share of Congress and AAP was 48%, two percentage points more than the BJP’s 46%. The seat quota according to the vote share and seats won for Congress and AAP for Lok Sabha polls is approximately 3% and 4% respectively.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that his party was inclined to surrender 4 positions in Delhi to the Aam Aadmi Party, unexpectedly he criticised Arvind Kejriwal of taking another ‘U-turn’ on the affiliation agreement.
Rahul Gandhi said “an alliance between the Congress AAP in Delhi would mean the rout of the BJP. The Congress is willing to give up 4 Delhi seats to the AAP to ensure this. But, Mr Kejriwal has done yet another U turn! Our doors are still open, but the clock is running out”.
However, AAP party has denied the formula of 4:3 lodged by Congress for alliance in Delhi. Instead, it is demanding alliance in both Haryana and Chandigarh along with Lok Sabha Elections.
AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said the party is all set to establish an association with Congress in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh but would not see eye to eye in the national capital. Lok Sabha seats of Delhi will poll on May 12.
