New Delhi | Prior to the launch of NaMo TV, the BJP went to seek permission from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee but permission was not granted . Despite this, the BJP launched Namo TV. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched ‘Namo TV’ without the approval of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC). According to the documents, the MCMC canceled the request for launch of Namo TV. BJP appealed for acceptance from the MCMC but this demand of the party was rejected. The full report of this matter has also been sent to the Election Commission.

BJP went to get permission for Namo tv, did not get but still launched.

Launching of Namo TV is being considered to be a direct violation of the process without permission. The Media Certification and Monitoring Committee is set up at the state and district level during the elections by the Election Commission. Approval of this institution is necessary after approval of advertisement and promotion etc. after the code of conduct is implemented.

Got permission !!

In the respective department of the Election Commission, Neeraj, a member of the BJP’s election committee, was applied on March 29 to get a certificate of media / advertisement. This medium was allowed to be shown through TV, chariot vans, social media and cinema (across the country). The Media Certification Committee had allowed the broadcast of the application to be broadcast on March 30. This means that only Namo TV’s people were given green signal.

Subsequently, on March 29, March 30, April 1, April 2, April 3, April 5 and April 8, the concerned department of the Election Commission received 10 applications for the certification of Namo TV Media / advertisement, which is not Speech and interview were.

The funniest point of this application was that in the application demand for pre-permission for PM Modi’s speeches had been sought. This was not possible because pre-permission is given only those programs which are not already in the public domain. The BJP did not say in its application that speech and documentaries will be shown. Apart from Namo TV’s logo, it was not even mentioned about the platform of any channel or political advertisement.

After examining this application and its contents, the committee felt that it was not a political advertisement, so it was decided that this committee can not take a decision on it. It clearly means that the certificate was not given for speech or interview. The applicant was also told about this. The letter was circulated on April 3, April 6 and April 8. After this there was no response from BJP on this.

The Election Commission had sought an answer from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the launch of NaMo TV. In response, the Ministry of Information Broadcasting had said that this is an advertisement channel, not a news channel. The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party had demanded from the Election Commission that the Namo TV should be suspended as it is a violation of the code of conduct.

Election Commission strict on Namo TV, imposing restrictions on content

Delhi’s Chief Election Office (CEO) had approved the Namo TV’s logo but did not “certify” its content as it contains the old speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.On Tuesday, the Election Commission had asked the CEO’s office to give information about whether the Certification Committee had ever approved political material. According to Amit Malviya, chief of the BJP’s IT cell, ‘Namo TV’ is part of the ‘Namo Ep’ which the party operates and owns this digital asset. In response to the Election Commission, the CEO office said that he had received a pre-certification request from the BJP.

An official connected with this incident said, “Delhi Election Office approved the Namo TV’s logo but the material which was submitted for certification, which was the prime minister’s old speech and it was felt that as it had already been broadcasted It has gone, it does not need pre-certification. ““Remove political material from NaMo TV immediately” says EC.
