Arun Jaitley Slammed Rahul Gandhi’s Promise As “Bluff Statement”

New Delhi | On Monday, March 25, BJP leader Arun Jaitley condemn Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s promise of minimum income giving Rs 72,000 per year to the poor deprived families as a “bluff declaration”.

The Finance Minister conveyed that the Congress has a record of bypassing the poor and misguiding the country in the name of abolishing poverty as it does not provide them any resources. He also asserted that the Modi government was already giving one-and-a-half times more money to them. He wrote, “In 1971, ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan was given by Indira ji. For two-thirds of the last 48 years her party has been in power. Yet, they left behind a legacy of poverty”, and the farmers are still waiting!

“The simple arithmetic is if multiple bank transfers to the five crore poor families, the existing payment to which is mostly being done. The above averages Rs 1,06,800 annually as against Rs 72,000 which is the Congress now seeks to promise through the
DBTmechanism,” Jaitley said.

The same Congress, which today announced the minimum income guarantee scheme and was pitting forward to carry out their schemes through Direct Benefit Transfers, was the same party that clashed Aadhaar scheme through which DBT has been made possible in Parliament as well as in courts. Congress is also accussed of “repackaging” the schemes that were already being run by the Modi government.

The Congress Party in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka promised a loan waiver, which too was a “bluff ” as in most places the promises have remained unsatisfied. Jaitley also hit out at senior Congress leader and former finance minister P.Chidambaram, who in a series of tweets had lauded the ‘Nyay’ scheme.

He added that the announcement of minimum income guarantee announced by Rahul Gandhi today, was “an admission of the fact that neither Indira ji nor her son and certainly not the UPA Government controlled by her descendants, was able to remove poverty.” Lets examine is this scheme of Rahul Gandhi is just for promoting Congress for upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019 or this time the party would seriously give some benefits to the people?
